NIPER to organise 3-day international conference on patient safety in Punjab from March 19

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), SAS Nagar, Punjab is organising a three-day international conference on patient safety from March 19-21 at NIPER campus.

The conference is supported by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

The aim of the conference is to provide advancement in knowledge and skills of persons working or intending to work in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare delivery and its initiative is to promote safer use of drugs.

This symposia will bring together researchers from industry and academia, clinicians and personnel from healthcare industry on one common forum and provide an opportunity to discuss means to improve patient safety at all levels of care.

Prof. Pramil Tiwari, professor of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, NIPER and the coordinator of the conference said that during the process of healthcare, patient safety is very important.  Since many years, patient safety has been increasingly recognized as an issue of global concern, but much more remains is to be done. He added, “The WHO has identified it as a potential area where improvements are essential and the healthcare personnel around the globe understand the importance of delivering safer healthcare.”

The conference will prove to be of interest for all investigators in the field of patient safety, who are looking for additional training and also for them who are recently employed personnel in academia or industry requiring comprehensive training in pharmacovigilance and patient safety.

The organizing committee is in touch with the resource persons from the industry, regulatory bodies and the academia, both within and outside the country. “Confirmations have been received from 3 resource persons in UK and several others in the country,” said Prof Pramil Tiwari.
